Let’s face it … marriage can be hell. Why not tackle it with a sense of humor, by tying the knot in Hell’s own wedding chapel?
For years, adventurous couples have been getting married in Hell, Michigan. Now, brides and grooms who wish to say their “I do’s” in Hell can book the chapel for a wedding that is sure to be memorable and unique.
The quaint chapel features a red metal roof, which is being established as a trademark of downtown Hell. In the spirit of fun, sitting atop the roof is a steeple displaying a question mark instead of a cross!
Visitors to Hell may wonder about the chapel’s bright blue door. This harkens back to colonial times, when early settlers believed that evil spirits would not cross over water.

Because of this belief, they painted their doors blue,to keep the spirits away.
Numerous windows let in lots of natural light, illuminating the chapel’s soft, green walls, white trim and natural pine floors. The result is a warm, beautiful setting for a wedding.
For those couples who are already married but want to partake in the fun, the chapel can also be used for vow renewal. This can be done by reservation or simply on a walk-in basis, provided the chapel isn’t already in use.
We’ve hosted several weddings since the chapel opened in the summer of 2006. One couple came all the way from California. They said it would be a cold day in Hell before they got married, so appropriately enough, they chose a crisp Halloween day in Hell, Michigan, to tie the knot!
